Just gotta say briefly...

This man NEEDS to be the next President.

Because he's amazing.

So proud of the 75,000 Oregonians that showed up on the waterfront to support him a couple weeks ago. I was unable to make it, and that makes me SAD.

Every time I hear him speak I actually think he can make a difference. Which is rare for a politician. Its usually just a lot of promises that can't possibly be feasible. Obama knows what's going on. So to all the people out there that don't think he has the experience, I say have a little faith. Its not about "anyone but Bush" this time around (I still don't understand HOW he was re-elected) its about someone that will set us on the right track.

Its time for something better. This country has been put through the ringer. I'm hoping in November the rest of the country will recognize what he can do for us. McCain is ridiculous. And I don't think Hillary has a shot.

P.S. I've been meaning to post this FOREVER.

Love that Lucy

Ever since I can remember I have loved old tv shows. I spent a great deal of my childhood tv viewing time watching Nick at Nite (before it was ruined by getting rid of so many of its great shows).

My very favorite has always been, and will always be, I Love Lucy. Last Saturday, for my birthday, my amazing friends, Grant, Drew and Crystal gave me the best. present. ever. The ENTIRE series of I Love Lucy. It was the sweetest thing ever. It was such an amazing, fun birthday, possibly one of the best I've ever had. Dinner at Andina, bowling and exploring Portland were absolutely fabulous. Topped off with cupcakes and my very first cab ride ever.

I am truly blessed to have so many wonderful friends.

Back to Lucy. I have admired this woman forever. She truly is one of the greatest actresses of all time. She is hilarious, ballsy, she really put it out there. The first woman to ever own her own production company, she truly was a success. Not to mention being stunningly beautiful. As early as 4th grade I was writing book reports on how much I admire her. I Love Lucy paved the way for so many great shows of the future. I am loving this DVD set. Totally geeking out, remembering all these episodes. Its just amazing. Its been so long since I've seen all of these. Nick at Nite pulled it off their lineup years ago. Along with Bewitched and I Dream of Jeannie. Which is completely stupid. I don't even care what they have on now. It started to suck. Occasionally they'd have a couple episodes on TV Land, but it wasn't the same.

Grant and reminisce about Block Party Summer. Which was 3 hours of one show every night. Other shows varied year to year, but it was ALWAYS Lucy Tuesdays. THE BEST DAY OF THE WEEK. I think it was Mary Mondays (actually Monday was usually the changing day, because I think they brought the Munsters and Welcome Back Kotter on), Bewitched B'Wednesdays (cute huh?), Jeannie Thursdays and maybe Dragnet on Fridays. Anyway, I miss this. I don't even think they have anything like this anymore. Which is SAD. So Grant and I have decided that occasionally this summer (pending schedules of course) we are going to have Lucy Tuesdays. Grant also has a bunch of I dream of Jeannie and Bewitched DVDs I think. Maybe we'll watch those too. For right now though, I am love love loving these episodes.

P.S. In contemporary Nicole television obsession news:

1. The Sex and the City movie comes out next Friday! I can't wait!!!!
2. The Office finale is driving me crazy, because I have to wait until Sept. to find out what happens! (Also, it was hilar)
3. CSI:NY OMG WHY do they
a. Have a hostage sitch for every season finale (excluding season 1, which was semi hostagey)?
b. LEAVE THINGS ON A CLIFFHANGER (P.S. Mac Taylor is so not going to get killed, they CAN'T kill Gary Sinise)?
c. Not devote a WHOLE episode to my beloved, Det. Don Flack Jr. (aka the fabulously sexy Eddie Cahill)? Ok, that will never happen, but if they wanted to turn the show into Don Flack is hot and should always be wearing sexy suits and say funny smart ass remarks and possibly walk around in a tank top a la Episode 3 of this season, I would probably watch the show on 8 tvs at once to give them inflated ratings. *sigh* just look at him.

Ok. That last one is from when he guest starred on Sex and the City as Carrie's bisexual ice skating bf, Sean, in the episode 'Boy, Girl, Boy, Girl...' I just had to post it.
4. Beauty and the Geek is CANCELED. Please, a moment of silence for this loss.
5. Gossip Girl. I miss it so much already. Also, I hate Michelle Tractenberg as Georgina. She seriously sucks, but I know they'll bring back her character. If you're going to be evil. BE EVIL.
And, I don't like this Dan and Vanessa business (she bugs me), Nate and Serena (ok, I might be able to accept this, but that means that DAN AND SERENA are not together, and that is just pure madness), and my dear Chuck Bass. You are crazy. But you make for good drama. And I kind of love you. And I'm starting to think that you are not ugly with weird eyebrows, but are in fact kind of hot. Especially when I see you in interviews and you are British (because he is British and British people are awesome). Ok. That was a mouthful.
6. Grey's. Feh. Meh. Whatever. It was a good episode. Mediocre season. I'll still buy the dvd. I thought season 3 was mediocre at first, but when I re-watched the dvds it was way better. I do think that they need to GET RID of Dr. Hahn. She is just annoying. I could care less if she and Callie become lovahs. YAWN. They both suck. Izzie and George (not sure if they belong together, that was kinda awkward) and Alex are the best characters on that show. If an Emmy were given out for just last nights episode. HANDS DOWN best actor (well technically he falls in supporting actor territory) goes to Justin Chambers. Phenom.

Ok, so that's my tv blog for now. Season finales over, loving Lucy and waiting for summer shows (RUNWAY! SHEAR GENIUS! THAT LEGALLY BLONDE SHOW! And more I'm sure).

For now, I leave you with a great Lucille Ball quote to live by:

"I have an everyday religion that works for me. Love yourself first, and everything else falls into line. You really have to love yourself to get anything done in this world".
xx,

Nicole

Bollocks.

It is supposed to be in the 80s next week for my birthday. That is some major crap. I HATE heat. I mean really hate it. 75 is fine. If there's shade. I don't enjoy sun at all. I am ridiculously pale and burn very quickly. Anything over 78 is just uncalled for. LAME. Fortunately I think most of my fun birthday festivities will be taking place in the evening.

I wasn't tagged, but I'm filling it out :-)

So I've seen this on few beauty blogs and I think it would be fun to fill it out my own...so here we go:

My Foundation:
Dior: Diorskin airflash foundation...light beige 200. I am in love with this product. Just a little bit goes a long way. It evens out my skin tone, but doesn't feel heavy. Love love. And surprisingly, even though it is aerosol, it lasts forever. My friend that recommended it said it would last about a month. It lasts about 4.5! I don't know what they were doing, but it lasts!
My Mascara: My all time fave is Chanel Inimitable. Amazingness in a tube. One day I was talking with my fave local Chanel girl, and I was telling her about how much I love and want Katherine Heigl's natural makeup on Grey's anatomy. I was describing how she looks like she's JUST wearing mascara. And the salesgirl suggested Inimitable. And what do I find out later on multiple occasions, Katherine Heigl uses this mascara! Love it!  But right now I am using Covergirl lashblast. Its pretty phenom.

My top 2 LEAST favorite mascaras are the most coveted by beauty bloggers (not all) and magazines everywhere.
1. Diorshow: CRAP IN A TUBE. Clumpy. Tarantula. Just bad. And it takes forever to take off. I don't understand why people like it.
2. Mabelline Great Last. Same bottle since the 80s. Possibly earlier. This mascara DOES NOTHING for me. I don't understand why it still wins every beauty award. There are so many better mascaras out there in that price point. Max factor makes some awesome alternatives and the aforementioned Covergirl lash blast. WAY better.
My Blush:  Right now I'm way into MAC blushcreme in Brit Whit. But I've also been mixing it up with my Stila convertible color in Gerbera. I prefer creme blush over powder blush. It lasts longer and gives a more glowing, dewy look.
As far as powdered blushes go, NARS cannot be beat. My fave NARS blush is deep throat.

My Eye Shadow:  Right now I've been kinda boring with my eyeshadow. I've been using a bunch of MAC products. Embark (a dark dark brown) for eyeliner, Vanilla on the whole lid, a taupey/mauvey (I don't know the name, its from a special edition MAC palate and I cannot remember what its called) color in the crease, and Magic Dust from the Barbie loves MAC collection on the browbone. Simple.

My Day Cream: DDF Ultra-Lite moisturizing dew mixed with a little bit of Kiehl's moisturizer with SPF. Gotta have SPF.

My Lipstick: I don't wear it very often, but if I do, its probably Cargo. The Lindsay Lohan color. Yeah, I'm not a Li Lo fan anymore but I like the color. Its a fun pink.

My Beauty Product Brand: I own the most MAC. So that I guess. I went through a period where I was MAC obsessed. Everything needed to be MAC. Now I've learned to branch out and pick items from many brands. I still won't touch Too Faced though. I tried it once. Not good times.

My Essential Beauty Product: I have lots, but I guess if I have to pick ONE it would be a good foundation. But then I would look dead....smooth skin. But dead.

My Favorite Makeup Product: I am in love with lip glosses. My current favorite is Stila Fruit Punch.

My Perfume:  I've been switching it up lately, but my all time favorite/signature scent is Stella by Stella McCartney.

My Nails:  Are terrible. I don't paint them.

My Feet: I use L'Occitane peppermint foot cream at night and exfoliate them when in the shower.

My Hands:  Any L'Occitane or Bliss lotion will do.

Three Products to bring on a deserted island: A high SPF sunscreen, Facial moisturizer, and one of those Evian misting spray things. I hate being hot. Plus if I'm actually deserted I won't really care what I look like. But dry, hot, burned skin would not be acceptable.

Woman I Admire for their Beauty: My grandma Jean. She lights up any room with her smile. I admire her for many things, her beauty is just one.

Woman with the Best Sense of Style:  I have a girlcrush on Katherine Heigl. I think she has that "old hollywood" glamour thing about her. I've loved her since My Father the Hero and Wish Upon a Star.
Also Kristin Davis. If I could dress/look like any fictional character, it would be Charlotte York. And Kristin always looks fabulous. She carries herself with a sense of confidence that never comes off pretentious.

My Ultimate Dream: To have a fulfilling career, have a wonderful husband and family, live in a wonderful house in NE Portland, have time to travel, and wonderful friends to share it with.

How Do I Define Womanhood: As one of the greatest gifts. Being strong and self-sufficient. Caring for others.

My Favorite Fashion Publication: I prefer Elle over Vogue and In Style. But I'm really a Cosmogirl.
