Update:

Just watched last night's Entourage and I actually enjoyed it. The storyline was actually going somewhere (unlike the last three) and Vince was wearing a cardigan. Seriously, cardigans make everything better. Especially men in cardigans. I have an obsession. I think they are adorable. I can't find a screencap from Entourage...so I leave you with my favorite boy in a cardigan (he wears them almost as much as I do), John Krasinski.

Oh how I love thee John.

P.S. HOW AMAZING was that proposal last week on The Office? My heart was bursting with glee. I love super casual proposals like that. It was reminiscent of when Aidan proposed to Carrie on SATC. LOVED it.

Time Flies

It has been a really long time since I've blogged. But I want to get back into it.

What have I been doing?

Well, I've been:

working, working, and more working. Evening shift is great except for trying to have a social life. When you get home around midnight every night except 2 nights a week, its hard to see people. And not going to work until 3 doesn't help. Everyone works normal hours!

Being excited that the new fall tv season has started. I missed CSI:NY and The Office SO MUCH.

Also, Entourage is kind of LAME so far (I think I'm over it.)

Gossip Girl has been amazing. Grey's Anatomy is on my TiVo but I haven't watched it yet. I can't even really remember what happened on the finale. *sigh* the last season of that show wasn't so great. Nothing will ever top the 2nd season. I have this weird thing where the 2nd season of a TV show is generally my favorite. Sure, I still love the show as a whole but as a collective number of episodes in a season, the 2nd season always has the best ones. I guess its a good thing that Gossip Girl is in its 2nd season this year :-)

Anyway back to reality. I've been trying to see my friends as much as possible. This whole "being an adult" thing kind of sucks. Now I know what my dad was talking about. You really have to sacrifice a lot. I miss college sometimes. Even though nursing school was insane and their was so much work, I still got to spend a lot more time with the people that I love.

When you work, a large portion of your life is spent with those you barely know. I like the people I work with, but I'd much rather be in school, going to get sushi on a one hour break with my friends.

C'est La Vie.

Nicole

As if I didn't need another reason...

to love this man...

Even though I believe that a civil union is basically marriage, and I 100% agree and want gay marriage to happen all over the world, I will accept this answer. I honestly believe Obama can make a change. This answer is true to who Obama is as a PERSON not as a politician. And for that Obama, I give you kudos! Not too long until November 4th! (Incidentally this is my dad's birthday, which falls on election day a lot obviously).

I so wish he actually said this:

Because seriously McCain is an idiot.

My new favorite word is

Inappropriate. I've been saying it a lot lately. In fact, its inappropriate how much I say the word "inappropriate".

During my FAB trip to Newport this past week with my best friend, we discovered how wildly inappropriate I Love Lucy was. We always knew this to be true. We laughed hysterically at this old commercial with Lucy and Desi, talking about this home permanent. It was so wrong. We have a sick sense of humor (it was totally acceptable back then) but Desi's mispronunciation of words back then=dirty slang words now.

Hilarious. And inappropriate. Or Grant and I have dirty minds. Its probably both.

I need to find the other clip of Ethel getting freaky with a cherry cordial chocolate (P.S. Those are disgusting) in the episode titled "palm springs"...she gets WAY too excited over it...its scary. Ethel makes food noises all the time, but this was like food ecstasy if you know what I mean...wink wink.

Meh.

Meh is the only word that can describe my feelings about Project Runway this season. I only kind of like some of the designers. There's nothing great about it. The annoyingness of a few of the designers outweighs my kind of like for the others.

The designers I like at this point are Kenley (she has cute personal style, and overall, has done the best work so far), Terri (consistently underrated I think), Korto...and that's it. I did like Wesley. I think he would have done some good work, but he majorly messed up in the green challenge. P.S. Natalie Portman as a guest judge=zzzzzz snoozefest.

Suede needs to go away. Far far away. He is obnoxious. I am still fuming mad about him winning a few weeks ago with that ass outfit that looked like a cherry pie on crack.

They chose THIS to manufacture for bluefly.com? WTF? I think the judges were smoking extra crack that day.

Kenley's was the only one in the top 3 that was decent.

BTdubs, I have to say it right now...she has the BEST model, Shannone. This girl has got attitude and I like it.

My friend requested that I blog about the show again, and since I love her, I'll do it :-)

So this week I was not excited for the challenge for various reasons.

1. While I do feel that they are important, I don't care about the summer olympics. I have no desire to watch any of the events. I do feel that it is important to support your country, root for them, etc...but I just can never watch them. I get so bored. The only olympic event that I even care about is figure skating. Because I am secretly a gay man. And I love Sasha Cohen. Like LOVE. She is amazing. I loved the challenge in season 2 when she came on.
2. Apolo Ohno is annoying. And WTF does he have to do with fashion??? Not one thing.
3. Basically I was annoyed because I didn't want to see this challenge. Little did I know that a vast majority of the designers would not grasp the concept of designing for ATHLETES.

Ok. So here's my thoughts.

Terri. I thought this was the winner. That scarf is amazing. The jacket seems so classic Americana but with a twist. The pants have a divine fit. The only thing that's wrong is the tube top sits really low. Its just odd and gives her wonky boobs.

Suede. Meh. Its not terrible. I hate the skirt. It looks like one of those cheap costumes you can get at party city. The top is uneven and it bothers me. Not appropriate for the olympics. Just kinda bleh.

Stella. Ok. I get why the losing designer was kicked off this week. Totally deserved. BUT OMG THIS WAS WORSE. How the hell is this supposed to represent the USA or the olympics? Its not even attractive. How was this not in the bottom 3? The judges didn't say anything about it???? I guess its more appropriate than the cocktail dresses in the bottom 3...but COME ON. Stella should not be on the show. I don't see any innovation or talent. They put her in the top 3 in the green challenge...wtf??? That outfit was TRASH. Also, she is annoying.

Leanne. I'm starting to warm up to her. She is from Portland after all. I like the collar. Not the most innovative design up there, but it was appropriate, it had class and it was semi interesting.

Korto...the winner! I liked this one. I ABSOLUTELY agreed with Korto and Terri being the top 2. Although Terri should have won. I don't like the vest, but it works. I give her the most credit for the fit and execution of those pants. She made linen pants look completely tailored. And for that alone she deserved credit. Every time I see people wear linen, it is completely wrinkled and can look sloppy. KUDOS for these pants!!!

Although, if you were an athlete with ANY defined muscles, these pants would not work. Still, I like Korto's aesthetic and I like her personality. She's got attitude with the talent to back it up.

Kenley. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this. Its so not appropriate for the Olympics, but I LOVE. I think I just love her style. I want that skirt ASAP. See what I mean about that model? LOVE HER.

Kelli. Again, I really like this. It is more appropriate for the Olympians, but it wasn't the best. I really love retro clothes, so of course I love this 40s throw back. Love the bow.
Keith. Don't like. Don't HATE. But I definitely don't even like it. Didn't he already make that skirt in the first challenge? Ok, I take it back. I do hate this. Also, I want to like him because I saw how sensitive he was to one of the models in some unseen footage from ep. 1. But seriously, he's kind of douchey. And the rat tail NEEDS to go. ASAP.

Joe. Its definitely the most obvious. I hate the skort. And I hate how long it is in the front. But it has great details (LOVE LOVE LOVE the red and blue zipper), but I wouldn't have picked this for the win.
Jerell. I kind of like him. He's bitchy in a fun way. I feel like we could be friends. If he wore a real shirt (I'm tired of seeing his sternum). This is completely inappropriate for an olympian. Seriously. Tim Gunn got it completely right when he said this was Lucy Ricardo. Which is probably why I like it. Its completely wrong for the challenge, but completely right for me to look at. I watched A LOT of I Love Lucy the past few days when I was at the beach with my best friend. Excessive amounts. I love love love I Love Lucy.

Jennifer...got the boot. Its cute in a Sunday brunch kinda way. But come on...this was just messed up. Also, that fabric on the skirt is heinous. It reminds me of Troop Beverly Hills, when they go to Giorgio...

That movie is about 150 different kinds of awesome.

Daniel...wtf? This is so not appropriate. I don't believe your LAME excuse of not having seen the opening ceremonies. I haven't either and I still know that this is wrong. Bad choice of fabric. Royal blue looks purple under those lights. He should have known that. If this was sewn better, it could have been cute in a costumey way...like in a revival of Guys and Dolls...I could see Adelaide wearing this...but not for this challenge.

Blayne. Why and how does he even exist? The "tanorexic" comments weren't even funny. His skin makes me sad. He looks like a 35 year old handbag, and he is 23. And he is SO ANNOYING. He is stuck in this 80s rut...and while I LOVE THE 80s, this is not good 80s.
Its so Xanadu. And not knowing about Sgt. Pepper is just, I, I can't even put it into words. Ok. I can. Even if you have no idea who that is, you still don't disrespect the Beatles by saying "I just don't do the Beatles. I mean, I liked "Across the Universe" and it was all Beatles but other people sang it. I mean maybe I like the Beatles but maybe a bit more progressive and to the now. Sorry Ringo". FUCK. YOU. BLAYNE. Have some respect. Or better yet, don't comment on your stupidity....

So that's my wrap up for this week. Still not loving this season.

My dream is crushed

I just found out that VH1's World Series of Pop Culture is NOT coming back this summer. I am devastated. I was planning on going on that show and winning. I'm OBSESSED with trivia. This is terrible news.

They broadcast "I Love Money"...but cancel the WSOPC?? Something is wrong with those people.

I take it back...THIS is so cute, it hurts

Project Runway Update:

I am pissed off.

More to come later.

Just another manic Wednesday...

I'm sitting here on my bed watching the Mets play the Phillies on ESPN. They better win today. They f'd up MAJORLY yesterday. Pissed me off.

Its Wednesday and I realized I haven't started blogging about Project Runway yet. I wrote about most of last season, either on here or on myspace.

There's too many designers to go over, so I'll just mention those that I like and those that I hope go home ASAP.

Likes:

Wesley (left) and Jerell

Wesley is just adorable. I love his portfolio. His dress was cute last week. AND he worked for Marc Jacobs. Instant fan.

Jerell is a no nonsense kinda guy. And I appreciate that. He had good work, he has personality, is bitchy (in a good way). I like.

Kenley. She's so pretty! Great designer. Seems to have personality. I deeply wish I could have her hairstyle. Alas, due to my hair feeling the need to frizz all the time, not hold a curl (after I've straightened my natural curls with a blowout and then curled, if that makes sense) and the stupid cowlicks I have on my hairline (oddly my brother has the exact same cowlicks (3) and double crown on the back of our heads, and our parents have none of these), I cannot have bangs. Plus my hair is not that thick. I am jealous.

Kelli. She won last week. I am either going to love her or hate her this season. So far, love.

Keith. Sorry about the pic, I couldn't find a better one on Bravo's website. I don't know about how I feel about him as a designer yet. Last week's challenge is tough, because they made them use unconventional materials to make clothes. Those are my least favorite challenges to be honest.

Anyway, after seeing a post on Project Rungay (link to the side, if you haven't seen this site and LOVE PR, read it. They are completely hilarious and spot on with their commentary), I love Keith. One of the other designer's model was not feeling well (I'm guessing low blood sugar, but who knows) and he went and got her water, and food and took care of her. It was really sweet. So obvs Keith is a good guy, and therefore I kinda have to root for him now.

Korto. Her dress was phenomenal last week. Plus, I love strong African-American women. My aunt has been a teacher at MLK Jr. elementary school for 25 years and she has a great number of friends that are such amazing people. I deeply respect them and what they have overcome. Korto seems to be there to get the job done.

Terri. I didn't love her portfolio, it seemed a little dated. BUT she made the most awesome knit top out of mopheads. So I've gotta give her a chance. I think she'll do well.

DISLIKES:

Blayne. Lady, please. You are not hot stuff. Your work is crap. Girlicious is NOT going to happen. You are NOT Christian Siriano. Please stop tanning. Your skin is SCREAMING for help. You have terrible wrinkles at 23 as a result of your addiction.

Sadly, I am almost positive that the producers will keep him around for drama. i.e. Vincent from season 3 or Ricky from season 4...they have  a pattern.

Suede. Before the show even aired, I knew I would not like him. He refers to himself in the third person. Sad. His arm hair is confusing me in this picture. He has a terrible haircut. Honey, you're too old for that hairstyle. And P.S. Rat tails make me sick. Especially when they are dyed blue. Oh, and his work is not good.

Jerry. Oh Jerry. You went home. I wasn't going to love him anyway. He was so over the whole reality tv thing. He was lacking in the personality department. And the serial killer outfit he made was just wrong. But Stella's trashbag hooker outfit was worse. Didn't Daniel Franco use trash bags for this challenge in season 1? And he got auf'd. She should have known. P.S. He also has a whacked out hairstyle. It was like a limp mohawk that kinda looked mulletty without being a mullet.

Stella, dear, you're no Jeffrey from season 3. Go home.

So that's it. Everyone else I am ambivalent towards. Can't wait for this season to progress. Although I feel as though it will go downhill when it moves to lifetime and LA next season. Sadness.

Tonight Natalie Portman is the guest judge. She bores me in general, so I might not like her judging. Plus I never really was a big fan of her or her fashion sense.

Finally, I just have to say ITS ABOUT TIME YOU BITCHES BROUGHT AUSTIN SCARLETT ON AS A GUEST JUDGE. I still think it was a big WTF? moment when he was voted off in season 1 and Wendy freaking Pepper went on to Bryant Park. I LOVE this little princess. I have yet to see a man or a woman with more perfect, bouncy hair and the secret to FLAWLESS makeup application. I LOVE.

I forgot how much I love John Legend's voice.

My cousin David got married yesterday (very exciting, I absolutely adore his new wife. Sweetest girl ever!) and their first dance was to John Legend (I'm blanking on the exact song right now...oh wine bar haha) but it reminded me how much I love listening to him. The song might have been "Stay with you". It makes sense. Also, my fave of his songs.

Love Love Love.

Side note: I have the most awesome extended family ever. I absolutely adore all of them. On my mom's side there are 15 grandkids and the older group (of which I am on the lower part of, kind of in the middle, the oldest is 29 (I think...28 or 29 I am guessing) are all pretty close because we are only a few years apart in age. We have so much fun. Good times were had by all.

My favorite random moment of the night:

My cousin Pat is 18. My cousin Kelsie is 19. At the table with my cousin Stephanie, Pat's sister, (23 almost 24) and I am 23. We provided them with wine. We don't care. Its a party. (Side note, I really rarely drink) There was champagne (or champs as the British people call it, as do I because I love British/European slang) being passed around. Everyone at our table got it (except for our 13 year old cousin).

Uncle Paul (J'adore Uncle P. Seriously the most loving, caring and HILARIOUS man ever. He and Uncle George (Stephy and Pat's dad) are seriously the most genuine people you'll ever meet. Anyway, Uncle P comes by and says:

"Patrick, drinking champagne? Uh huh. I'm just gonna turn my back"...something to that effect. He was giving him so much crap. Gotta love Uncle P. He totally doesn't care. Kelsie said he gave her the first beer she ever drank.

There were a lot of speeches. I anticipated this, so I barely sipped my champs, but pretty much everyone else ran out :-)

Congratulations to David and Hannah!

"Hot Guys With Kids Makes Them Even Hotter" Batman edition

In honor of the PHENOMENAL new Batman movie (I love Batman movies in general, but this one was SPECTACULAR) I would like to pay tribute to the two stars and their adorable kiddies:

Christian Bale and his adorable daughter and gorgeous wife.

The late (GREAT) Heath Ledger and his daughter. By the looks of the greenish hair I think this was probably during the filming of Batman. His performance was amazing in the film. I remember hearing something about how Jack Nicholson was peeved that someone else would play the joker because "he was the only joker" blah blah blah. Big ego. Well Jackie boy, I'm sorry but Heath Ledger just kicked your ass at being the joker.

I miss him. His death was truly a tragedy. One of the greatest young actors we had. I still can't believe he didn't win an Oscar for Brokeback. The end of that movie makes me cry so hard I can't breathe properly. And he doesn't even have to SAY anything.
R.I.P. Heath Ledger.

Cillian Murphy...he's hot in a  very creepy way. I can never explain why. His eyes are gorge. How cute is his son?

I'm still a girl even if I talk like a boy about baseball sometimes...

I get teased (jokingly of course) about being butch (despite being a huge girly girl i.e. fear of spiders, love of makeup, etc. etc...) for obsessing about baseball sometimes. I never mind.

Today, during the Mets game (continuing their winning streak) David Wright hit a 2-run HR to tie the game and I actually welled up with tears.

That's how I know I'm still a girl.

I was so proud of my favorite Met. Pretty sure men don't get THAT emotional over homeruns. Maybe they do...

My love right after the homerun :-)

And its still hurt-ing!

This video is about a year old, but I still love it!

Basically, what I need to know is, how do I get my kids to speak with British accents? Because there is NOTHING cuter!

I guess I'll have to adapt some sort of British accent when I have kids. Very Madonna.

I shouldn't be this excited about sunblock...

....but I am. I just read on Clumps of Mascara (http://www.clumpsofmascara.com) that there is a Banana Boat sunblock that is SPF 80. I've never seen this in stores! I will have to go looking for it ASAP. I'm going to a wedding on Sunday and its outside and I do not want to get burned. Now, I doubt SPF 80 is even necessary (I was in a wedding, mid day almost exactly 2 years ago and it was 107 degrees outside, no clouds, and I think I almost died. Seriously, I think I had sun poisoning. I weak and exhausted for a few days after that. Dehydration is a bitch. But I did not get sunburned and I think the sunblock was SPF 48 or something like that). But I am so prone to burning. I am really excited about this sunblock! I'll have to stop by Target on my way home from the bookstore today (I'm beyond stoked to read Michael Ian Black's book that comes out today, because he is awesomely hilar).

Legally annoying.

Okay. So I haven't posted an update on that silly Legally Blonde show yet. We're down to the final three. Next week is the finale. My thoughts can be summed up in the following statement:

If Autumn wins, I will never go see her on Broadway.

She is so obnoxious. Pretentious actually. She seems to think that because she is 27 that means she should win because she has been trying to have a career much longer than the other girls. I'm sorry, NO. She is so entitled. I won't even get into the bitchy things that she says. UGH. OBNOX.

I do not think Rhiannon should win, she just doesn't have the voice. While Autumn can sing (although I am not really fond of her voice) she cannot dance. Seriously, its painful to watch her try. Lauren was cut last night, but I think Rhiannon should have been cut before her. Lauren could sing and act. But I do agree with the fact that the judges said she was simply too young.

At the end of last night's episode there were three left. One more has to go home before the final audition. At the beginning of next week's show they will announce the final two.

My guess is that Rhiannon will be going home, but if its Bailey I will FREAK. I think out of the people that are left, she is the only one that can pull it off. If Bailey goes home (which I doubt she will) then Autumn will win. Based solely on the fact that Rhiannon does not have the vocal stamina to be Elle Woods.

I am nervous for the state of this show. Bailey is the only one that could even come close to performing at the level of Laura Bell Bundy...

We shall see what happens.

My friend Drew has brilliant ideas...

After telling Drew to look at my blog to see the ADORABLE David Wright pictures that I stumbled upon yesterday, he had the BEST idea for this blog. Every week I could post a picture of a celeb and title it "Hot Guys With Kids Makes Them Even Hotter" (title may need to be changed to make it shorter.

I think its brilliant. Because it is SO TRUE. Seeing the way a guy is with children says a lot.

So in honor of the man that started it all...here is MY FAVORITE PIC of David Wright with a little girl at a charity bowling event:

Seriously adorable. I'm verklempt.

Update:

The Mets are now on a 9 GAME WINNING STREAK.

That is all.

Oh...one more thing...David Wright is playing in the All-Star game and that makes me happy :-)

Here are various photos of him being cute (WITH KIDS, extra swoon factor) at some of his many events for his charity (which he started in his first real year in the MLB!)

I mean come on...he is just so adorable. The David Wright Foundation provides support and services to childrens charties/causes and Multiple Sclerosis. http://www.davidwrightfoundation.com/about/

My fake-boyfriend is amazing. Just saying. I'm only a little bit crazy. Promise.

Reasons why today was awesome:

1. I spent some much needed QT with my best friend at Nordstrom looking at presale items for him.
2. I purchased 2 makeup items that I honestly do not know how I have LIVED without. The Bobbi Brown Mauve face palette and my new favorite beauty essential Bobbi Brown long-wear gel eyeliner (I purchased Bronze shimmer ink today, but I wear Black Ink pretty much daily). I get pretty giddy over makeup products, but these seriously made me squeal with glee.
3. My beloved Mets are FINALLY playing like they should be! They are on an 8 game winning streak!! Hallelujah! Their record is 10-2 for the month of July, that's pretty amazing. And, in the last 4 games, they have given up less than three runs...that's insane! Apparently according to the sportscenter peeps (yes, I watch it...shocking I know. I seriously HATED sports until last year) no team in the national league has done that since 1920! Amazing. I would also like to gloat that the Braves (I loathe the Braves) have a record of 4-7 (win to loss obvs) in July. HA!

So that's all for now, I will post pictures later of my new mauve look...so excited! Also coming, a tale of my hair and how someone thought I permed it...a sad but true story.

xx,

Nicole

P.S. I forgot to mention the men's sale items. What has happened to Nordstrom? SERIOUSLY. WTF? My friend Drew described it perfectly "it's becoming SO VEGAS".

Grant is a bit of a shopaholic. Normally he has at least 5 bags FULL of items from the anniversary sale. This year, he'll have ONE BAG. Just a few tees, a pair of jeans and a pair of shoes (which BTDubs I totally KNEW he would want. Amber (the salesperson that Grant is friends with from his days as a Nordstrom employee, who always helps him with presales) brought out the shoe catalogue for me to look at while he was in the dressing room and I said "oh, he'll like those" and then he bought them. I probably could have gone through the whole sale area and picked out the items Grant would buy. I know him too well.

Anyway, the Vegas effect is in full force at Nordstrom. You could also call this the "Ed Hardyfication" of Nordstrom. WHY DO PEOPLE WEAR THAT STUFF? Grant and I had a big laugh trying on the Ed Hardy trucker hats. Trucker hats were not acceptable in 2003 and they are REALLY not acceptable in 2008. Seriously...look at what Christian Audigier puts out into the market:

Ladies Sunglasses: I think I'll stick to my beloved Chanels. Thanks. Which, BTDubs, I bought 3 years ago, and they are classic and I bought them for the same price as these pieces of crap (the price has gone up on the Chanels now, but STILL. Come ON).

One of the hats that Grant and I tried on today. I couldn't find a picture of the hideous brown one though. It was bad.

Yes. That's a chain attached to a shoe.

SICK.

I've seen these on someone before. I nearly threw up.

This shirt is $92...full price. Sale price $59.90. That's a lot of money to look douchey. And yes, that is an adjective. I love how annoyed the model looks. He's thinking "GET THIS OFF OF ME". He's so over it. As my friends and I would say "He does not have an Ed Hardy facial structure"...basically meaning this guy does not look like the type that would wear Ed Hardy...ever....

$154... you've GOT to be kidding. Go to American Apparel if you want a cute hoodie. I guarantee its way better quality and you could buy 3 of them for that price.

So that's my little side rant about my hatred for Ed Hardy clothing. Remember that episode of SATC where Carrie is having dinner with Berger and then Charlotte comes over from her bad date and they are discussing their guidelines for dating? i.e. Charlotte won't date anyone that gives her carnations and Carrie won't date anyone that wears Docksiders/Topsiders (in general)...well mine are Ed Hardy and of course Crocs.
